Vintage Original Hand Painted Double Sided Neon Restaurant Sign

This Double Sided Restaurant Neon sign is all original and is for sure from an era gone by. It is in the original patina that has not been restored. The Neon is gone but there is definitely a story in this sign. You can imagine there were more than one name of this restaurant as the Top area has been painted over and the neon configuration modified. The Restaurant font gives the impression this was a campground or outdoors type of feel to the place. The sign measures 32 high, 6 wide, 11 deep. There are the original hanging brackets that are bolted to the top. True Americana that would look good as is in a kitchen or another restaurant. Original 1957 Neon Porcelain Restaurant Sign Panels. Elias Brothers Big Boy Sign. UP FOR SALE IS AN EXTREMELY RARE AND VERY SCARCE ORIGINAL VINTAGE 1950s ERA (ELIAS BROTHERS , BIG BOY RESTAURANT) HEAVY GAGE SOLID STEEL WITH PORCELAIN ENAMEL SIGN PANELS MEASURING A HUGE WHOPPING 12 FEET WIDE BY ALMOST 10′ FEET TALL WITH A 9′ FOOT LONG ARROW. (ROTATING BIG BOY IS “NOT” INCLUDED). THIS HUGE NEON SIGN WAS PUT UP IN THE YEAR OF 1957 IN FRONT OF THE BIG BOY RESTAURANT ON LAKE HURON IN TAWAS CITY, MICHIGAN. EVERY PANEL ON THIS SIGN IS MADE OF HEAVY GAGE SOLID STEEL 1 INCH THICK PANELS WHICH ALL HAVE VERY THICK PORCELAIN ENAMEL. ALL FOUR OF THE BIG BOY PANELS BOLT TOGETHER AND THE ELIAS BROTHERS SIGN BOLTS ON TOP OF THEM!!! THE BACK OF EACH PANEL HAS BLUE PORCELAIN ENAMEL AND ALL OF THE PIECES HAVE THE HOLES FOR GLASS INSULATORS IF YOU DECIDE TO TURN IT BACK INTO A WORKING NEON SIGN BY HAVING NEON GLASS FIT FOR IT, BUILDING A FRAME FOR IT AND HAVING IT REWIRED. Large Big Vintage Retro 10′ Drive Thru Neon Sign Restaurant Advertising Man Cave

RECENTLY serviced as pf 4/12/18 Now Equipped with a PLUG and an on/off switch for 110 power so it can be plugged right into a wall! Originally used Outdoors this can be used either inside or outside. Please note that several of the pictures show the neon guy working on the sign and he has half of the red top off. You can see when it is in the back of my truck the entire top is there it is off as he’s working on it. When all hooked up it looks just like it does in the picture other than some obvious age. Absolutely nothing is missing on this sign… There is absolutely nothing missing to the sign And the neon guy added a 110 plug in and a switch. It is in as good a vintage condition as you could ask for in a great sign like this. Not sure of the exact age of this sign but I would guess at least 40+ years old. Measures about 10 total length. I have only been able to find a couple of photos of it online. This sign is in exceptional condition for its age. Some of the photos show our local neon shop having the sign open and lit up so you can see its condition is excellent and it is completely working. He also changed the cut wires out to a regular plug for a 110 outlet and installed and on off switch so you can easily install it in or around your home or business. There is no neon broken and there are no repairs. There is now 110 power and a plug with an on/off switch so it can easily be installed wherever you need it. It is not a two-sided sign it is meant to go flush against the building it is flat on the bottom. It has cleaned up very nicely since we took these pictures it does show age and fading which only adds to its character. Please contact me if you have any questions before making an offer.
