THIS IS AN ILLUMINATED NEON GLASS TUBE SIGN. IT IS IN 3 PIECES. 1 PIECE IS “THE”. 1 PIECE IS “YANCEY”. 1 PIECE IS CO. THE LETTERS ARE 36 INCHES FROM THE ALUMINUM BEVELED BOTTOM TO THE TOP OF THE LETTERS. THE LETTERS ARE RED PLASTIC THAT COVERS THE GLASS NEON? TUBES IN EACH LETTER AND THE PERIOD. THE LETTERS ARE COVERED IN THE BACK AND SCREWED IN TO A BRACKET INSIDE EACH LETTER. I, M NOT SURE IF THE TUBES ARE NEON, OR HOW THEY WORK? THE “THE” PIECE IS 10 FEET LONG APPROX. Actually has a period!! PIECE IS 9 FEET LONG APPROX. THE “YANCEY” PIECE IS 20 FEET LONG APPROX. THE SIGN HAS BEEN IN DRY STORAGE, UNDER MY FATHERS HOUSE, OFF THE GROUND , ON CINDER BLOCKS, SINCE BEFORE 1969. THERE ARE ALSO ORIGINAL MOUNTING BRACKETS. MY FATHER BOUGHT THIS HOUSE IN 1969, FROM A MRS. YANCEY, IN ATLANTA GA. THE SIGN WAS LEFT BEHIND WHEN SHE MOVED OUT. SO, THE SIGN WAS PROBABLY PUT THERE, IN THE 50, S OR 60, S THERE WERE SEVERAL “YANCEY” TRACTOR CO. ONE WAS IN ALBANY GA. THERE WAS ALSO A YANCEY BROS. SO, I DONT KNOW WHERE THE SIGN WAS MOUNTED OR CAME FROM, BUT IT IS LINKED TO THE “YANCEY” CO. IT IS IN GREAT SHAPE. I HAVE SEEN NO BRAKES OR CRACKS IN THE LETTERS. THE WIRING FOR ILLUMINATION, WILL HAVE TO BE FIGURED OUT, PROBABLY BY AN ELECTRICIAN. THE BASE IS BEVELED ALUMINUM, VERY RETRO LOOK. AND IT NEEDS A GOOD CLEANING! ANYONE WOULD ASSUME THE SIGN WORKS, AND IT WAS WORTH KEEPING IN STORAGE BY THE YANCEY FAMILY! BECAUSE IT WILL REQUIRE 2-4 PEOPLE TO LIFT IT UP AND OUT FROM UNDER THE HOUSE. AND IT WILL NEED A LONG BED TRUCK OR FLAT BED TRAILER TO HAUL IT. THE SIGN IS NEAR DOWNTOWN ATLANTA (BUCKHEAD).
