Vintage Double-Sided Firestone Sign, 30 Feet Long! This is an original 1960’s era, double-sided Firestone Sign. The salvage will be featured in Season 11 of the DiY Network show, Salvage Dawgs! This HUGE Firestone sign features a solid double-sided body and striking, 60 tall lettering. It featuring the signature 60’s bowtie shape and flame-style lettering. It is missing the neon tubing. Measurements: For scale, the letter “F” is 59 tall. The white trim above and beneath the main “Firestone” section is 300″w x 23.5″d x 16h. Approximately: 5,000 lbs or less, our Big Tex trailer could handle it. Overall Measurements: 354″(L) x 28″(W) x 118(H). The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company is a tire company founded by Harvey Firestone in 1900. They supplied air filled tires for wagons, buggies, and other forms of wheeled vehicles common at the time. Firestone soon saw the possibility for increasing sales by making tires for automobiles. The company was a early leader in the mass production of tires. Firestone become the original equipment supplier of Ford Motor Company automobiles. Formula One: Firestone has been a major tire supplier for Formula One teams. From 1950 to 1975 they supplied tires to a number of teams, including Ferrari, Team Lotus, and Honda. I believe this sign to be one of the original Skippers Seafood Restraunt signs used from the 1969-70’s era for soon afterwards they changed to a large square back lit sign with Skippers being in the center of it. Not sure if there are any others out there that have survived but highly unlikely for there was not to many of these restraunts during this time. Made by TubeArt, Seattle, Wa. Who has been in business since 1946. It measures approximately 8-1/2 feet wide, 30″ at its tallest point and 10-1/4″ from front to back. Just guessing I would say it weighs between 200 to 250 pounds. It is being stored in a heat controlled environment. I can take it as far as Roseburg or Eugene, Or. Which are both located along the I-5 corridor. This is a fun star sheet metal blinking sign. The sign is two sided and alternates from red to white or clear when blinking. The star is from the mid 1900’s and is in sturdy condition. It mounts from the bottom pointing up, could mount the other direction if you so desire. These types of advertising devices were used to draw attention to another sign and were frequently mounted on top of another sign. Fun item in as found working condition. The star is 33″ tall x 18″ wide x 10 1/4 deep. We checked all the electronics and it operates nicely. I have for sale a vintage signage of lowercase letter “n”. It is constructed of sturdy and lightweight metal. I believe it’s aluminum. Inside the letter is neon light tube, covered by clear lucite. The electrical connections are cut off. I believe it was in good working order before taken down. No guarantees that it will work. It was displayed at a local car dealership. It was a backlit sign, so that neon light bounced off the wall. On the top is a wether-faded sticker that says. The dimensions are: 12″ tall, 12.5″ wide, and 3.5 deep. Although bent, I will include the original wall mount screws. This sign has a high quality workmanship, crafted by true professionals. It will make a great display.
