Rare Vintage 1950’s ROOMS Hotel Motel Advertising Double Sided Neon Painted Metal Sign 40. Up for sale is a vintage original 1950’s ROOMS hotel/motel double sided neon painted metal adverting sign. The sign is in as found condition, does not have neon glass tubes, does not work. The overall condition is good with normal time wear (paint loss and scratches). The sign measures overall 40″x11″x8. This is an ex neon metal sign for Wines. It is the front panel from the sign still retaining some of the neon hardware. The sign is painted on sheet metal and is from around the mid 1900’s. BEAR MANUFACTURING / BEAR TIRE & WHEEL ALIGNMENT VINTAGE METAL SIGN 1940’S. 9tall x 3ft. BEAR TIRE/AUTOMOTIVE SIGNS ARE BECOMING MORE SOUGHT AFTER EVERY YEAR! MANY CHAINS AROUND THE COUNTRY HAVE ADAPTED THE BEAR LOGO INDICATING A QUALITY STANDARD OF BEAR MANUFACTURING. The bear signs were produced by Bear Manufacturing, a nationwide chain. Shops would hang them up to indicate that they were trained by Bear and used Bear wheel alignment tools. The yellow bear logo has been used by the company since the 1920s. Example: ” Vodie’s ” is / was a local chain of auto repair shops. He is often referred to as the laughing bear, happy bear, or dancing bear. The Grateful Dead rock band lifted the logo without permission. In the 1960s or 1970s, when Bear Manufacturing became part of Automotive Diagnostics, the company stopped producing the signs. Motel sign is in great condition. Sign is 9 ft 10 in tall, 35 in wide and 8 in thick. The letters are 16 in tall and 20 in wide. All neon tubes are still there and in tact except one small break in the curve of the L. Have never plugged in because plug is a little buggered up. Is two sided and both sides are the same with the exception of the L. On one side the L is a little bent on the bottom. Has great outdoor patina. Sign is very big. Great sign for a good price! Vintage Wagon Wheel Tavern Neon Double Sided Metal Sign measures approximately 8 Ft high, length over 10 Ft. Paint is original, originally made for a tavern in Eastern Washington, circa early 1950’s. Neon needs replacing, arrow lights up and creates a motion look, lightbulbs are installed on one side.
