Shows some wear for its age. The front glass lens is missing. I recently had the neon tubing replaced and it looks great. The clock works and keeps accurate time when tested. It still has the original pin and knob to adjust the time. Some of the paint is flaking on the outer frame and has worn away. Not many of these were made and even fewer have survived. Measures approximately 20″ in diameter and about 6″ deep. This is the way that I found it all original aside from having the neon tubing replaced. Huge Vintage 1950’s Chevrolet 2 Sided 25′ Neon Porcelain Metal Gas Oil Sign

For your consideration a vintage 1950’s sign. The sign is made of metal and is double sided. The signs have a porcelain finish and are made to be neon lit. The glass neon tubes for the letters are missing. Each side has three porcelain panels that make up Chevrolet. The transformers look to be complete and the body of the sign is still in good condition. The porcelain signs are still in good condition and there is no touch up. They could use a good cleaning. It measures overall with the mounting brackets 45″ in depth by 285″ in height. The body with the porcelain signs measures 280 1/2″ in height by 34″ in depth by 14 1/2 in width. The hanging bracket on the top measures 42 across. I can store the sign for as long as needed as long as it is paid for. It is in Crawfordsville, Indiana zip code 47933. It originally hung in front of City Chevrolet in Chicago’s famous auto row. An excellent addition to any advertising collection or if you just want to own a really neat old sign and a great piece of history. This neon hung over a family owned bowling alley in the 1950s, called Key Lanes in Fort Wayne Indiana. 9ftx5ft, it works and looks amazing. It was restored some years ago, definitely repainted darker from the gold it was painted originally. The alley started in 1951, I got a photo from the family dated about 1955 showing it over the door (see photos). The alley was owned by one family from 1951 to 1978 and I was lucky to get this from them. I have two vintage bowling pins from the lanes that goes with it, as well as uncle Ottos (son of the original owner) two hole fifties bowling ball. A real cool piece of Americana bowling history. How cool would this be hanging over a business in the Florida Keys? ! Let me know if you have any questions.
