For sale is a wonderful 30s/40s American Hotel double sided and lighted advertising sign. Most likely, this was hung at one of the entrances at one of the brands hotels across the country. Although painted white many, many decades ago, the sign appears to be red, green, and black, based on areas where the white paint has chipped. There is a Google image included in photos of an American Hotel being painted white in the 1930s and this very well may have come from that particular hotel. I cant verify that claim, but it certainly is possible. The entire sign is tin and it one point had neon border, but the transformer and tubing is no longer with the sign. In the photos you can see the glass neon tube feed-thrus. There are bulb sockets inside the can and I have added two additional temporary clamp lights to make the sign a little brighter. It is temporarily wired for display. There are no cracks to the plastic used to illuminate the letters. Very early material with one side smooth and the other side jagged as seen in the photographs. Both of the original brackets are still attached to the sign which allows it to be displayed as it was designed. The sign is free from any major damage other than the paint situation. Its still has an incredible display presence, and look to it. Please review the photos as they are part of the description. If you have any questions please let me know. The sign is also for sale locally and this listing may be removed at any time. About 42 wide, 25 tall, and the bracket length from top of can to hooks is about 12. Challenging to price something this uncommon. Feel free to make a reasonable offer!
