Vintage Iconic Blinking Star Metal Sign Non Neon

This is a fun star sheet metal blinking sign. The sign is two sided and alternates from red to white or clear when blinking. The star is from the mid 1900’s and is in sturdy condition. It mounts from the bottom pointing up, could mount the other direction if you so desire. These types of advertising devices were used to draw attention to another sign and were frequently mounted on top of another sign. Fun item in as found working condition. The star is 33″ tall x 18″ wide x 10 1/4 deep. We checked all the electronics and it operates nicely. The previous owner gave this a light black spray to reduce the brightness a bit for their bar, he told me this is standard practice. Vintage Neon Sign Rath Packing Co. Waterloo IA Safety First Think of Your Family

One of a kind piece of History.. Sub-Type: Neon Light Sign. Saying: Safety First Think of You Family. From: Rath Packing Company. Location: Waterloo, Iowa Plant. Age: 1950’s-1960’s. Condition: As I lightly rub a micro fiber on the bulbs I can see the neon light up. There doesn’t appear to be any leaks/breaks. Some of the black has come off of the bulbs from years of exposure/drying. I lightly microfiber dusted the it, but it will need a Professional cleaning/maintenance. I have added pictures of the guts/inside workings of this sign, but since this was attached to pole the power cord seems to have been removed. The front has Plexiglas that seems to have been added years after the sign was made. I usually remove it since it has a glare to it. Size: 47 1/4″ Wide by 34″ Tall by 9 1/2 Deep. The wall mount brackets are 37 1/2″ Tall by 1 1/4″ Wide, Front of the sign is 46″ Wide by 32″ Tall (section that houses the neon bulbs). Note: Without the wall mount brackets it should sit upright otherwise you will have to prop it up with bricks under the front or mount it to a wall. It just has screws holding the brackets onto the sign. It is over 100 pounds. I will contact them this weekend. They only have a 100 pound scale so I will have to have it scaled at another location.
