Vintage Original Kendall Oil Double Sided Porcelain Enamel Neon Milk Glass Sign with original hanging hardware – this sign hung inside the Southern Garage in Joplin MO for many many years until we moved it in 2000. We carefully removed as much of the layers of grime before moving it into the house where it hangs in the stairwell to the basement. Both sides say “Gear Lube Kendall The 2000 Mile Oil” – porcelain enamel is cut out where the letters are and milk glass fills the cutouts – neon ring around the outside of the sign. T is all original – never restored, only cleaned!!! Original neon – original wiring – milk glass is complete and intact – porcelain enamel is as perfect as you will find in a sign that is 75+ years old – ALWAYS has hung inside!!! I’m sure there is some paint wear on the band around the sign and perhaps a bit of rust due to its age, but we can’t get up close enough to see it! The sign will remain hanging where it is until the day you come to pick it up! I believe this sign is about 38.5″ diameter by about 12″ thick and weighs about 65 lbs, if the label is correct (see pic) not including the brackets. The opposite side of the sign is identical to the one showing, but I can’t get to the other side to photograph it. We are downsizing to prepare for a future move. We collected a LOT of different things over the years – railroadiana, gas & oil, airline, breweriana, depression glass, teddy bears, soda fountain – a wide variety of stuff! Wonderful Art Deco tin can sign with milk glass lighted lettering. This two sided sign has a great look, original paint and is very sturdy. The one side is more worn than the other, as it should be after hanging outside. The sign is from the first half of the 20th century and was found in New England. We have rewired the sign and replaced the milk glass for a great look. Not very heavy an easy hang with the original iron hanger hooks. You could change the color of the letters by changing the color of the 5 light bulbs inside. A nice workable size. The sign is 43″ long x 21″ high, 30″ high including the hangers and 7 1/2″ deep.
