Wow what a great estate find. This is a wonderful salesmans traveling display case to show the different colors of neon gas tube colors. It is a homemade case made from an old portable record player. Its in excellent condition. It works great as it should. There are 6 different color tubes: gold, pink, red, green, blue with a clear glass tube and blue with a white glass tube. There are 2 tubes with no gas they are used to complete the circuit as you need the 2 clear non gas tubes on the ends and the colored gas tube in the middle for it to work. If you look at the photos, try and not look at the tubes but the reflection to get a feel for the different colors of the tubes. The glass tubes measure about 11 inches long. What a great way for the salesman to get the customer to see his products. The case measures 13 inches wide, 11 inches deep and 6 inches tall. The weight is 13 pounds. Please dont contact me and complain about how expensive it is to. I just enter the dimensions and the weight. Please study the photos as they are an important part of the description. This is double sided and just needs new neon. Porcelain is super nice and has good gloss. All original can and still has the transformers inside. Sign is 51 1/4 tall, 46 1/4 wide, 10 thick. GLO-DIAL SALEMANS SAMPLE 22 NEON CLOCK Restoration is required but WOW what an amazing piece. The “salesman / company” was Robert K Lewis of 842 Venice Blvd. Los Angeles CA and this would be one of the units they would bring around to places of business to try to sell a GLO-DIAL clock with their company name on the face. Originally it probably said’YOUR COMPANY HERE or YOUR SLOGAN HERE or YOUR BUSINESS NAME HERE etc…. Restaurant Bar Drive-In Diner GM FORD CHEVY DODGE PONTIAC Car Dealership Appliance Dealer Cleaners Soda Fountain Water Lawyer Manufacturing Dairy Ice Cream Shop RX Drug General Store Hardware Lumber Yard etc.. Did they sell Glo-Dials after their own units or before? Maybe they just rebranded the Glo Dials? The clock functions and keeps time. The face ring chrome / stainless?? and outer advertising glass are gone and the neon tube is cracked one spot… The outer case is obviously the original and showing basic scuffing / aging but is intact / complete including all latches and the handle with no crushed corners. Salesman samples are highly sought after and I can only find two similar both of which are in neon museums (of a sort) / collections. Finding a unit for sale is not something that happens very often.
